By Yes, you can! My mom made this recipe when I was a child and I remember how impressed I was when she showed me. It’s a great way to keep the taste of fresh cheese without adding any extra salt or fat. You can freeze it like any other cheese.
This recipe has been making the rounds on Frugal Living Network for years, but I can’t seem to find it on Amazon. So I did the research and found both Amazon and the recipe at It’s a good one and I’m definitely making it again. I’ve found cheese making to be a great way to stretch your cooking budget.
I think this is one of those recipes that is good either for someone who doesnt like cheese, or someone who just likes a nice salty slice of cheese. Since I am neither, I added some salt to this recipe. And I also did the math. The recipe says to freeze it for up to 3 weeks and then add one tablespoon of butter to each slice before baking. I did this because 1/4 cup of butter is around $1.99 at wal-mart.
While I’m not a cheese person, I do love swiss cheese, so this recipe was a good way to make some extra money. Its not a recipe that’s going to turn you into a Swiss cheese fan like I am, but I’m really hoping it goes over well with the rest of the family.
Swiss cheese makes a perfect candidate for the freezer, as it has a lot of moisture, which helps preserve the cheese’s flavor in the freezer. You can freeze the slices in individual containers, but I added a few sliced slices to a whole jar of melted butter. I then popped them in the freezer and left them there for a couple of weeks. As soon as I took them out, I went to the store and bought more butter.
I think my favorite part of this is when I saw the jar of melted butter with the sliced slices. I could then eat the whole jar and see if it tasted like Swiss cheese. I’m guessing it would. It’s pretty clear, though, that this is a classic case of “flesh is tastier than cheese” and I just went nuts.
This is one of those things that seems like a good idea, but really just looks like a bad idea, because the person that came up with it probably thought they were making a good idea.
Okay, so this is a great idea. I love the idea that you can freeze things and then get to eat them. At least that’s what I imagine the people who came up with this might have thought. I’m just saying, I’m not sure that the idea was actually good.
I could be wrong but I think it might have been because this idea has been around for a while and was originally intended for a different game. I do think that the idea of “freezing things” has been used in a few other games and I think this idea has been around for a while, so maybe the people who came up with this idea didn’t think it was a good idea for the new game.
